What is ibanchecker.cash?
ibanchecker.cash validates International Bank Account Numbers and looks up the banks behind them. It runs the ISO 13616 MOD-97 check, the country's own structure rules, and, for 25 countries, the national account check digit that sits on top of the IBAN standard, including the German per-bank Prüfziffer and the UK sort code modulus check. A valid IBAN is then resolved against a directory of 2,300+ institutions to return the bank name, BIC, city and SEPA scheme participation.
Everything on the site is free and needs no account. The REST API is open at 100 requests an hour without a key, with official client libraries for Python, PHP and JavaScript, an OpenAPI spec, and an MCP server for AI assistants.
Bank data is sourced only from primary registries (SWIFT, the EPC, national central banks, GLEIF) and cross-checked against them. Where a fact cannot be verified, the field is left empty rather than guessed, and the methodology page documents both the sources and the known limits. No IBAN is logged or stored; validation runs in memory and is discarded.
