What is Humble New Tab - fork?

Humble New Tab - fork is a Firefox-only new-tab extension that displays bookmarks, most visited sites, recently bookmarked items, and recently closed tabs or windows in a customizable column layout. It requires Firefox 121 or later and keeps its data locally rather than using third-party favicon services.

The fork uses background caching for bookmark data, browsing-related lists, and locally stored favicons so new-tab pages can render without repeating the same browser API calls. It also provides configurable themes, layout and display settings, drag-and-drop organization, real-time updates, settings import and export, keyboard navigation, and handling for privileged Firefox URLs.
