What is Hotfile.com?
Hotfile offers 1-click file hosting for files up to 400 MB in size.
There is a 60-second wait time to start a download, and a 30 minute wait time between individual downloads.
Hotfile offers an affiliate program which pays uploaders $2 to $15 per 1000 downloads. The actual payment depends on the following:
- The ratio of users that downloaded the uploader's files to the users that become premium based on those uploaded files.
- The ratio of files uploaded by the uploader to number of downloads. For more details on the affiliate program, go here: http://hotfile.com/affiliate.html
Discontinued
Hotfile.com has been discontinued on December 2013 because in violation of copyright law, according to a United States federal court.

Hotfile lets you download one file every 30 minutes, with a 60 second wait time to start the first- it doesn't get much worse than that. The only reason people use it is because you get a 2 GB limit, instead of the normal couple hundred megabytes. Still, there are almost always better ways. If you have to use it to download something, it would be a good time to get jDownloader or Skipscreen.
The size limit for files uploaded by unregistered users has been lowered to 400 MB. So as a downloader, you really don't have any reason to use Hotfile. However, as an uploader, Hotfile offers a very generous affiliate program that pays you based on how many people have downloaded your files. As least, that's what I've been told- Hotfile's chart explaining the program is damned confusing: http://hotfile.com/affiliate.html
