What is HostTracker?
HostTracker is a website monitoring service that has been operating since 2004. It checks websites and servers around the clock from a distributed network of over 300 monitoring locations worldwide, so an outage seen from one region can be distinguished from a global one.
Check types include HTTP/HTTPS availability, ping, page content matching, SSL certificate validity and expiration, domain name expiration, and DNSBL blacklist monitoring that warns when a server IP appears on spam blacklists. Checks run at intervals down to one minute.
When a problem is found, alerts are delivered by email, SMS, voice call, or messenger: Telegram, Slack, Viber, Discord, Google Chat, Facebook Messenger, and browser push are supported, as well as outgoing webhooks for custom integrations. Alert schedules and escalation can be configured per contact.
The service also provides scheduled uptime reports, public status pages, embeddable uptime badges, and free instant tools: a website down checker that tests a site from multiple locations, and an SSL certificate checker.
For developers there is a REST API with official SDK client libraries, a command line tool, and an MCP server that lets AI assistants run checks directly. A free plan is available, as are free trials of the paid plans.

It alerts me instantly via email or Telegram if anything goes down, which helps me stay ahead of issues before they cause damage. I group sites by host or niche for easier tracking, and the content check tool is great for spotting unwanted changes. It saves me hours of manual work and helps avoid footprints.
I’ve used Host Tracker for months, and it does exactly what it promises—tracks downtime, response time, and server health with great accuracy. However, I’d love to see more customization options for alert thresholds to fine-tune the notifications.
