Works great and is more usable than the Electron based alternatives, especially on low-end hardware since it's a native Linux app.
Very useful if you do a lot of tutorial-style videos or even short recordings. Output video is comparable to Screen Studio with animated cursors, auto zoom upon clicks, dynamic webcam shrinking upon zooms.
Nifty feature to also upload the recording directly to YouTube or an S3 bucket. Time taken to record a video, trim, export and upload it is way shorter compared...

Hosaka Studio information
What is Hosaka Studio?
Hosaka Studio is a professional screen recording application built specifically for Linux that automatically transforms raw screen captures into polished, high-quality videos. Inspired by Screen Studio for macOS, it brings the same automated post-production magic to the Linux desktop.
Key Features:
- Auto-zoom on clicks - Automatically zooms in when you click, focusing viewer attention on important actions
- Smooth cursor movement - Transforms jerky mouse movements into elegant, cinematic glides
- Beautiful backgrounds - Add gradient or solid colour backgrounds with drop shadows, no need to clean up your desktop
- Webcam overlay – Picture-in-picture camera feed for tutorials and demos
- Microphone and desktop audio capture – Record your voice and system sounds together
- X11 and Wayland support – Works on all major Linux display servers
- MP4 and WebM export with H.264 encoding
- Native Qt application – built with Python and Qt, not Electron
Unlike traditional screen recorders, Hosaka Studio uses a post-processing approach: it records raw footage and cursor data, then applies effects during export. This enables higher quality results without impacting recording performance, and lets you adjust effects after recording is complete.
Perfect for creating tutorials, product demos, software walkthroughs, and social media content without needing video editing skills.

Time taken to record a video, trim, export and upload it is way shorter compared to using a traditional recorder like OBS + a video editor.
Also has quality of life features such as CLI arguments, easily stopping recording using tray icon, and not having to trim out recorder UI like with OBS. Has a 7-day free trial & is fairly priced.
