What is Hook Notifier?

HookNotifier is a hosted notification inbox. You get a personal URL and call it from anything that can make an HTTP request: a shell script, a cron job, a webhook from Stripe or GitHub, or a few lines of code in any language. A native push notification then lands on your phone and in your web inbox. There is no app to build, no Firebase project and no backend to run.

Notifications support four priority levels, from low to critical, with per-user quiet hours that critical notifications override. They can carry markdown formatting, an image, up to three action buttons and a link opened on tap. Delivery can be scheduled with a delay or an exact time up to three days ahead, and an already sent notification can be updated in place by id, which makes progress counters and changing statuses possible without spamming the device.

The inbox has full-text search and colored tag folders that can be muted individually. Named hooks give each source its own revocable URL with its own defaults, and payload mapping templates turn raw webhook JSON into a readable notification without a middleman. Received notifications can also be relayed to external URLs, for example a Slack channel.

HookNotifier is free, with no notification quota and no paid tier. Compared to self-hosted tools it requires no server to maintain, and compared to email based alerting it delivers a real push notification instead of another message in an inbox. Native apps are available for Android and iOS, alongside the web inbox.
