scottpk These two are not alternatives to each other. They have integrations to work together, and work for entirely different categories of devices. IFTTT is well supported by a variety of cloud services, but entirely relies on cloud services; Home Assistant does support many cloud services but supports various local-device standards (Zigbee, Bluetooth, local network discovery, etc) which enable it to control things which have no cloud integration.

      openHAB vs Home-Assistant.io opinions
Almost everyone thinks openHAB is a great alternative to Home-Assistant.io.
Where you can install HA, you can install openhab. In my opinion the interface, and support is far broader than HA. Plus on a side note, they don't require you to put up money for additional features like control with Alexa and Google Home.
