Disk Utility does not have the partition making/editing features of GParted.

Compared to GParted, Apple's Disk Utility is like an elementary-school student's hand-made spear. It's cute and looks like it'll work, but when push comes to shove, it's really just for decoration and poking things to see if they're alive.

Unfortunately all of the great power that DiskUtility used to have has been all but removed. It's very poor at anything other than formatting into a journal filesystem.
