    I like BookWyrm as an alternative to many known services because of the ActivityPub-approach and the already great level of maturity in the current code stages. Bringing your own instance online (or joining one) is by far no rocket science and supporting native S3-integration for storing media files is built in. Definitely one of the best ActivityPub-projects, fitting in the footsteps of Mastodon or Pixelfed!

    It is not owned by Amazon, and book data is linked openly with the Wikidata project for everyone, not closed down for the owner alone.

    inventaire.io is a good Idea but does not have the Community functions of goodreads. If you just Want to store you're book lists it is an interesting alternative and it is even possible to import from goodreads.
