Found Again

Found Again gets deleted photos and videos back from camera cards on a Mac. It also works with USB sticks and external drives.

It reads the card's own file records first, so files you deleted usually come back with their original names, folders and dates. After that it reads the whole card looking for photos and videos by their contents, which is how it finds things after the card has been formatted. It handles JPEG and HEIC, RAW files from Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fujifilm, Panasonic, OM System and Pentax, camera and drone video, and common document and audio files.

You can save everything it finds for free. There's no file limit and you don't need an account. The app only reads the card and never connects to the internet. It's open source under the GPL.
