What is FormaCAD ?

FormaCAD is a free, open-source (GPL-3.0) parametric CAD application for the desktop. Models keep named parameters, bodies and a feature history with suppression and rollback, and geometry is built with the OpenCascade kernel.

You can sketch constrained profiles, model by hand, or ask an AI assistant (Codex, Claude or a custom CLI) to edit the same model; every AI change is checked by local geometry validation and runs under explicit permissions. Projects stay on your computer with revision history, comparison and restore.

Import STEP; export STEP, STL, OBJ, GLB and 3MF for 3D printing and other tools. Includes measurements, camera presets, assembly motion, light and dark themes, plugins and signed automatic updates. No account is required.
