What is Foldergram?

Foldergram is a web application that turns your local directories into an Instagram-like feed. It transforms your local folders into profiles in a responsive Progressive Web App (PWA). The software indexes media from a designated root, retains metadata in SQLite, creates thumbnails and previews, and offers a quick feed-style web application for local browsing. It includes features such as Home, Reels, Explore, Library, Likes, Moments or Highlights, App Folder pages, post detail views, download controls, deletion functions, scan controls, and rebuild tools.

Foldergram now stores derivatives under stable asset-key shards instead of mirroring source folders. During an upgrade, existing libraries remain accessible and migrate in place on the next full scan. Foldergram maintains stored paths directed at pre-existing files, repairs legacy derivatives where possible, and allows for folder movements to preserve the indexed media identity and reuse existing thumbnails/previews. The software's scan status differentiates between discovery, derivative migration, and derivative generation, reporting the appropriate progress for each phase.
