What is Ferrite?

Ferrite is a Markdown editor built for speed and efficiency, featuring live preview and syntax highlighting. It's made with Rust and egui, contributing to its high performance. It natively renders Mermaid diagrams, such as flowcharts, sequence, class, state, ER, Gantt, and pie charts.

It offers multiple viewing modes like raw editing, split view, and full WYSIWYG preview. It comes with a CSV/TSV viewer that offers column coloring and sorting, and a JSON/YAML/TOML tree viewer with collapsible nodes. Ferrite also integrates with Git, providing visual status indicators in the file tree, and includes a workspace mode with file tree navigation.

Additional features include find and replace with regex support, synchronized scrolling, customizable syntax highlighting with over 25 themes, both dark and light application themes, a Zen mode for distraction-free writing, multi-language support, and multi-encoding file support with auto-detection.
