What is Ente Photos?
ente is a simple app to backup and share your photos and videos.
If you've been looking for a privacy-friendly alternative to Google Photos / iCloud Photos, you've come to the right place. With ente, they are stored end-to-end encrypted (e2ee). This means that only you can view them.
We have open-source apps across Android, iOS, web and desktop, and your photos will seamlessly sync between all of them in an end-to-end encrypted (e2ee) manner.
ente also makes it simple to share your albums with your loved ones, even if they aren't on ente. You can share publicly viewable links, where they can view your album and collaborate by adding photos to it, even without an account or app.
Your encrypted data is replicated to 3 different locations, including a fall-out shelter in Paris. We take posterity seriously and make it easy to ensure that your memories outlive you.
We are here to make the safest photos app ever, come join our journey!

Comments and Reviews
One of the best google Photos alternative, It even has Family Plans 🤩. It also encrypts the metadata, while allowing to search through the metadata to find your photos.
You can't edit the order of photos within an album.
I'm totally satisfied. Privacy has been the reason I never used Google Photos, despite the unlimited storage (back then). Ente's user-friendliness means my family can use it too without much hassle.
Really, the greatest photo storage you can get.
Its simply the best, especially if privacy is important, and it should be when we consider how big tech own our photos (or think they should). The only fault I find to when I need to copy a photo and paste it into another applicatio, say, an email. I find I have to download the image and open in another photo app then copy/ paste it. There must be a better way, I've not found it. However this is a small matter compared to everything else. Recently I got my nwife to switch from Apple to a degoogled android. Ente made it simple to get all her photos off iPhone onto her new android. I wish I'd know about ente when I dumped iPhone, I lost a lot of images.
E2EE Photos backup with a beautiful UI, what do you need except that?
I really like where Ente is going. It's open source, end-to-end encrypted, audited, and self-hostable, but at the same time has a clean UI, fairly priced centrally hosted cloud storage (across multiple servers), and incredible cross-platform support (across mobile, desktop, and web). It even has quite decent on-device machine learning (face and concept identification) and geotagging. It has basic image editing support. The team behind it seems friendly and transparent. I heartily approve and am excited to see what comes next!
