Comments and Reviews

Comment summary: Video DownloadHelper is praised for its ease of use, ability to download high-quality videos, and integration with Firefox. However, users express concerns about recent updates, mentioning slower download speeds, the necessity of a companion app, and introducing a cost for features previously free. Some feel it has become less reliable over time and complain about videos being glitchy. Despite mixed reviews, there is appreciation for its past functionality and continuous use by some users.

Not free anymore. Depends on a helperapp and aggregates files with a QR code in the corner. After paying for the registered version the QR code will disappear. So; not free or freemium but a rip off ...

Video DownloadHelper is a browser extension –– can anyone recommend a standalone app or website for downloading videos?

"Warning on Chrome extensions and YouTube. Unfortunately, the Chrome Web Store does not allow extensions for downloading YouTube videos so we could not include this feature in the Chrome version of the extension. You can use Video DownloadHelper to download YouTube videos on the Firefox version."

I do not like video download helper. Videos are glitchy and stutter, it is garbage, and now you want to charge for it. NOPE!

This add-on forces you to download a separate application. No worth.

What is Video DownloadHelper?

DownloadHelper is a tool for web content extraction. Its purpose is to capture video, audio, and image files from many sites.

Just surf the Web as you are used to, when DownloadHelper detects it can do something for you, the icon gets animated and a menu allows you to download files by simply clicking an item

For instance, if you go to a YouTube page, you'll be able to download the video directly on your file system. It also works with MySpace, Google videos, DailyMotion, Porkolt, iFilm, DreamHost and others. You can even setup the extension to automatically convert the downloaded movies to your preferred video format.

When you are on a page containing links to images or movies, you can download some or all of them at once. Moving the mouse over the items in the menu will highlights the links directly in the page to make sure they are the ones you want to pick up.

DownloadHelper also allows you to download files one by one, so that you keep bandwidth to surf for other stuff to download.

Because of Google WebStore restrictions, the Chrome version of the add-on does not download videos from YouTube. Use the Firefox version for this purpose.
