DockNest is a free, open-source web app you host yourself. It connects to your Linux servers over SSH and backs up each Docker or static nginx site completely: images, volumes, bind mounts, writable layers and databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL/MariaDB and Redis). Backups are encrypted with AES-256-GCM and stored on your own SFTP server or S3-compatible storage.
Its focus is proving that backups actually work. You can restore any backup to a separate copy without touching the live site, and DockNest can run these restore tests automatically on a schedule on a test server: it starts the copy, checks it, and cleans it up.
DockNest also shows your servers, sites and storage on a visual map. To move a site to another server, you drag it there: DockNest backs it up, tests a copy on the new server, waits for your DNS change and then switches, keeping the old copy stopped for 7 days so you can switch back.
Other features: per-site schedules and retention, pinned backups, encrypted or ZIP downloads, alerts via Telegram, email, Discord, Slack, ntfy, Matrix and more, two-factor sign-in for every user, and an in-app update center. DockNest is currently in beta and supports x86_64 Linux servers with Docker and Python 3.
