What is Defi?

Defi is a free and open-source scrolling window manager for macOS, inspired by Niri.

Instead of trying to fit every window inside the visible screen, Defi arranges windows in columns along a horizontal strip. As you move between columns, the desktop scrolls to bring them into view. This makes it possible to keep many windows open without constantly resizing them into smaller tiles.

Defi supports scrolling and stacked columns, dynamic workspaces, multiple displays, an overview for browsing and moving windows, configurable shortcuts, floating windows, app rules, and live TOML configuration.

It manages regular macOS windows through the Accessibility API, so standard interactions such as clicking windows, using Command-Tab, or selecting apps from the Dock continue to work normally.
