Easy to use. Keeps my credentials organized. Its easy to create a new passwords for the new sign in-s. Extension work suprisingly good, as well as the sync between the devices. This app have big thumbs up from me!

What is Cryptex Vault?

Cryptex Vault is an open source password manager for passwords, passkeys, SSH keys and time-based verification codes. Your vault is stored encrypted on each of your devices, not on a central server, and you can create and use it without an account.

Synchronization is peer-to-peer. Devices you link with a QR code or invitation file exchange changes directly over an end-to-end encrypted WebRTC connection. When a direct route isn't possible, a TURN relay forwards the same encrypted traffic. Signaling and relay servers only help devices find each other and never receive the keys, so they can't read your vault. Both devices need to be online and unlocked to sync. You can run these connection services yourself with the open source self-hosting stack, or use the managed ones in Online Services.

Organize entries into directories, search your vault, generate passwords and fill them with autofill. Unlock with your master password or biometrics, and keep a recovery code, import and export to stay in control of your data. The Android app, the web app and the Chromium extension all sync with each other.

Share a credential or a piece of text through a one-time link. It opens once, expires after one hour to seven days and can require a passphrase. The content is encrypted before upload and the key stays in the link, so the share server only stores ciphertext.

The Linux SSH agent (cryptex-agent) holds no private keys. When ssh or git needs a signature, the agent asks your phone or the web app, which shows the server, program and key and lets you approve or deny. Only the signature goes back to the computer. Generate or import SSH keys in Ed25519, ECDSA or RSA.

Online Services is an optional paid subscription (monthly or yearly) that adds encrypted backups, managed signaling, relay, sharing and SSH agent servers, and account device management. Backups are encrypted on your device before upload. Local use stays free and needs no subscription.

Cryptex Vault is free software under the GNU Affero General Public License, version 3.
