What is Coreboard?

Coreboard is a free, open-source hardware control center for Linux, inspired by Armoury Crate and MSI Center. Written in C with GTK4, it starts instantly and detects what your hardware actually exposes, hiding everything else.

Features:

  • Performance modes (Silent / Balanced / Turbo) through power-profiles-daemon or ACPI
  • CPU tuning: Turbo Boost, energy preference, governor; GPU monitoring for NVIDIA, AMD and Intel; hybrid GPU mode
  • Display: refresh rate, brightness and night light on Hyprland, Sway, KDE Plasma, GNOME and X11
  • RGB keyboard lighting (MSI MysticLight) with per-zone effects and a music-reactive mode
  • Per-app scenarios: apply a performance mode and refresh rate when a game gets focus
  • Keyboard macros with global shortcuts
  • Game library (Steam, Epic via Legendary, GOG, Lutris) and Windows games through Proton-GE / umu-launcher with DLSS, GameMode and MangoHud
  • Works on Arch, Debian/Ubuntu, Fedora and openSUSE; installs missing tools with your package manager
