Cogitae is a native macOS AI workspace. It connects to your own accounts at Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, xAI, Mistral, DeepSeek, OpenRouter, or any OpenAI-compatible server, and runs local models through llama.cpp and MLX.
It is a full MCP client with a graphical editor for servers: no JSON config file and no restart to reload a server. Every tool call can be inspected, including arguments, results, and why a tool definition was rejected. Claude Desktop configs can be imported by drag and drop. Cogitae also runs an embedded MCP server, so other clients can use its tools and conversations.
Other features include branching conversations, persistent semantic memory, event-driven agents that react to files, clipboard, calendar, and timers, a hotkey launcher, Shortcuts and Siri actions, a Finder extension, and an iPhone/iPad companion app.
