What is CodeItLearn?
CodeIt is a browser-based coding studio for ages 5 to 18, built in Toronto.
A learner describes a website, game or quiz and gets a working version they can play immediately. They change it by moving things around, picking colours and fonts, or asking for changes in plain language. A separate view shows what the finished project is made of, and every programming idea in it opens the lesson behind it.
There are 31 beginner Python lessons, each with an explanation, a runnable example, something to write, and a challenge. There is also a Python playground for writing and running code directly in the browser.
The part that differs from other tools in this category is what it measures. The comprehension questions are generated from the learner's own file: the correct answer is the value that learner actually wrote, and the wrong options are other real values from the same project, so a question cannot be answered by recalling a lesson or looking something up. Only first attempts count. A parent sees a sentence describing what their child could explain about their own work, rather than a completion percentage.
Profiles for ages 5 to 12 are parent-managed and email-verified, and cannot publish publicly. Independent accounts start at 13.
Free to start with no card, including ten AI-assisted builds a month; the lessons and the Python playground are free for everyone. Paid family plan CA$12 a month, cancellable at any time.
