What is CleanYourTV?

CleanYourTV is a free, open-source way to take back an Android or Google TV. A coding agent such as Claude Code connects to the TV over Wi-Fi, backs it up, disables the manufacturer's ads, tracking (ACR) and preloaded apps, and installs a minimal launcher that looks like an Apple TV home screen. Nothing is uninstalled and one command restores everything.

  • Community-tested debloat lists for 66 TV models across 25 brands, including Sony, TCL, Xiaomi, Hisense, Philips, Fire TV and projectors
  • A 300 KB launcher with no internet access and nothing running in the background, built for 1 GB TVs
  • 14 languages, themes and wallpapers without rebuilding, a clock screensaver and a calmer mode for older TVs
  • No root, no cable, works on Windows, macOS and Linux

Started as a fix for the developer's parents' TV; 5M+ people saw the original post and 88 contributors have joined since.
