An encrypted reference for everything that isn't the manuscript: characters, locations, timelines, factions and worldbuilding notes. Each entry is encrypted on your device like the chapters are, so the private details of your book — real names in a memoir, an unpublished plot twist — stay unreadable to the service.

  • Online  Runs in any modern browser with Web Crypto support (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari); JavaScript required. Installable as a PWA. Encryption happens in the browser using a key derived from your passphrase — lose the passphrase and encrypted content cannot be recovered by support.

CipherWrite stands out due to its Finisher feature, an accountability agent that identifies when you've stalled and helps you progress. It remembers your working patterns but not your chapters, which remain encrypted.
