Canovaccio

Canovaccio is a performance sandbox where you create your own characters, scenarios, and scripts, then take the director’s chair. Bring original characters together with figures from history, myth, and literature. Cast the roles, set the scene, and call the shots.

Build your troupe. Create characters with their own biographies, personalities, and voices, or adopt actors shared by the community. Rehearse with them one-on-one to explore their voice and develop memories they carry into future performances.

Give your cast something to play. Define a Scenario for open-ended improvisation, or shape your own story into a Script with acts, scenes, roles, and ending beats. You provide the structure; the cast finds the words.

Direct as the scene unfolds. Set the tone, coach an actor, whisper a private instruction, introduce a surprise, or call Cut and try another take. Step into a character’s role and contribute lines yourself. Explore dialogue, chemistry, and pacing by seeing what your cast does with the same scene twice.

Keep and share the show. Hear characters speak in distinct voices, record a finished Script performance, edit individual lines, and download a formatted script. Publish to the Showcase or share a performance link for others to read and listen.

Bring friends into the room. Host a private Watch Party where friends follow the scene live, chat alongside the action, and step into character roles. Guests participate free; the host pays to start the show.

Canovaccio runs in your browser, with nothing to install. Reading and listening to shared performances is free. Creating and directing requires a monthly subscription or pay-as-you-go credits.
