What is CalmMouse?

The Magic Mouse's whole top shell is a touch surface, and it stays live while you click. So every click is also a tiny swipe — you press down, your finger rolls half a millimeter, and the page jumps. Drag a window and the document scrolls out from under it. macOS has no setting for this.

CalmMouse is a small menu bar app that fixes it, and the rest of the Magic Mouse's rough edges: it swallows scrolling while a button is held (with an adjustable grace period for the trailing scroll as your finger lifts), adds a dead zone against micro-jitter, locks a gesture to one axis, and can turn off momentum for the Magic Mouse only. Beyond scrolling it adds tap to click, tap to right-click, tap and drag, two-finger drag, per-app rules, modifier + scroll actions, and a low-battery warning.

Everything applies only to the Magic Mouse — CalmMouse identifies the physical device behind each event, so your trackpad, your other mouse, and anything synthetic pass through untouched. Three one-click presets (Just fix clicking, Extra steady, Trackpad feel) get you started; everything stays tweakable. Signed, notarized, MIT licensed, no telemetry.
