What is Calk?
Calk is a maintenance-first calorie counter built around a different question: how can people keep weight under control while needing food logging less often?
LOG REAL MEALS Instead of searching for the least-wrong entry in a giant database, open a familiar meal template and make it match what was actually on your plate. Change the base, protein, vegetables, sauce, cooking method, extras or portion. Calk recalculates calories, macros and nutrients as the meal changes, so you can see what moved the result and correct the assumptions yourself.
Calk deliberately has no barcode scanner and no photo-based calorie estimation. Barcodes are useful for an exact packaged product, but they do not describe a homemade curry, a restaurant burger or the oil and sauce hidden inside a mixed dish. A photo can see the plate; it cannot see the recipe. Calk asks about the parts that materially change the meal instead of pretending to know them.
LOG FOR ANSWERS, NOT FOREVER Start with a focused baseline when you want to understand your current routine. Calk brings your meals, calorie targets and weight history together. After at least 20 complete food-log days and weight data on at least 10 days within one 30-day window, it turns the record into a personal nutrition report: your typical day, calorie distribution, recurring meal patterns, higher-energy ingredients, food variety and practical changes worth considering.
The aim is not simply to eat less. Calk helps you see what could be replaced, added or kept inside meals you already eat, while leaving the final decision with you.
LET WEIGHT SET THE PACE When your weight trend is stable, Calk stays out of the way. If the trend changes, return to a short food check and see what changed in your routine. Food logging becomes a tool you use when it can answer a question, rather than a permanent daily obligation.
There are no streaks to protect, no red days and no need to reconstruct missed logs. A missed day is a data gap, not a failure. The goal is a way back, not a perfect record.
Calk is designed for adults who want calm, specific information without turning food into daily paperwork. It is informational software: it does not diagnose conditions, prescribe treatment or replace a qualified health professional.
The core tracker — food logging, daily calorie and macro targets, weight entry and the weight-trend chart — remains free for ongoing use. The first 30 days include every insight; after that, later reports and continued access to the insight library are available with one annual subscription. Food and weight logging work offline, and Calk has no ads.
Available on iPhone, iPad and Android in English, German, Hebrew, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Spanish (Spain) and Spanish (Latin America).
