I've been creating, running and publishing my own sites from the early days of the Internet, when they were still web logs. I've used and tried a lot of software, including making my sites with HTML editors. Up to now I would say Blogger was the best option for having a site up with your information and news, business or personal. While Blogger has been around a very long time I would now recommend Bludit as the best software for building and maintaining a site. It is simple, light on the server so it will load fast and you can do a lot with the software. Like Blogger, a template is not complicated so you can create your own with only a little HTML understanding. There is no database so it is important to make back ups of your site, but this is no different from any other CMS. Bludit will back up for you so I don't see this as a negative at all, just something to do with maintaining your site. Bludit was super easy to install and set up. Load files and add your own information. That was really all I needed to do.AnamonUpvoted a comment on Bludit
I am moving all my sites to Bludit. Very simple to set up and run. I can add images to posts without uploading them and adding the file in another window. This is something most CMS don't work easily with. Bludit does while being flat file, open source, and free. It doesn't require a lot of knowledge or experience. People can have their own sites without paying someone to do it for them, or design around complicated ad bloated software. Bludit is pretty amazing for free software, actively developed. If you want a site with a lot of complicated gadgets you need someone else to run for you, don't use Bludit. If you want a site that does not suck up a lot of your time, Bludit is just what you need.dygotrondoesn't think BoidCMS is an alternative to Bludit

Bludit is a databaseless, flat file blogging system, and you can use it as a traditional CMS as well. As Bludit is programmed in PHP, the installation is easy, you only need a standard web host.
It's easy to create individual themes, provided you know HTML, CSS and a little PHP. Also, there are a lot of free themes available.
But it is not a super-flexible CMS, of which there are admittedly only a few on the market. A menu editor is missing, and you can only have one editable area, apart from the sidebar.
Anyway, Bludit is one of my top favourites.

I didn't intend to post twice here. This was posted as a comment but it showed up here instead.
