What is Audio Route?

AudioRoute captures system audio on macOS and routes it into any application. It works in three ways:

  • VST3/AU Plugin — Drop "AudioRoute Capture" onto any track in Ableton Live, Logic Pro, FL Studio, or Reaper. System audio flows directly into your DAW, ready to record.
  • Virtual Audio Device — "AudioRoute Input" appears as a standard microphone in macOS. Select it in Audacity, OBS, Zoom, QuickTime, or any app that records audio.
  • Direct Recording — Click "Record to File" in the menu bar app to capture system audio straight to a WAV file. Choose your sample rate (up to 192 kHz) and bit depth (16, 24, or 32-bit float).

Key features:

  • Native Core Audio HAL driver — not a workaround, a real audio device
  • Apple Silicon and Intel support
  • Built-in feedback protection
  • Floating overlay with recording indicator
  • Automatic updates via Sparkle
  • Zero CPU usage at idle
  • 14-day free trial, no credit card required

One-time payment of €19 (early bird) — lifetime updates, no subscription. macOS 14.5+. Windows support coming soon.
