What is Astra music?

Astra is a free, open-source audiophile desktop music player built for people who still maintain a music library. Plays FLAC, MP3, WAV, OGG, AAC, M4A, OPUS, AIFF, WMA natively with FFmpeg fallback for everything else. Features include gapless playback, a fully parametric 10-band EQ with AutoEQ profile import, real-time audio analysis via a native C++ module, and seven fully customizable visualizer scopes (oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, vectorscope, heatmap, LUFS, VU meters) arranged in a drag-and-resize rack layout. Album art-driven accent colors and a fullscreen ambient mode. Integrates with Jellyfin, Navidrome, Last.fm scrobbling, and Discord Rich Presence. Includes a local REST API for external tools to read playback state or control the player. Dolby Atmos multichannel decoding works without special hardware. Available on Windows, macOS, and Linux (also on the AUR). Licensed under GPL-3.0.
