What is Ambedo?

Ambedo is a free, browser-based bulk metadata editor. It lets you batch edit, strip, and organize metadata across hundreds of video, audio, and image files simultaneously — without uploading anything to a server.

All file processing happens locally in your browser using FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly. Your files never leave your device.

KEY FEATURES:

• Bulk Metadata Editing — Modify Title, Artist, Album, Genre, Year, Track, Comment, and custom fields across hundreds of files at once. Supports ID3v2 tags (MP3), Vorbis comments (FLAC/OGG), and QuickTime atoms (MP4/MOV/M4A).

• EXIF & GPS Stripping — Remove GPS coordinates, camera serial numbers, software fingerprints, and all EXIF data from photos and videos without re-encoding (zero quality loss).

• Privacy Strip Mode — One-click removal of all sensitive metadata while preserving structural tags needed for media server compatibility.

• Cover Art Management — Add, remove, or replace album artwork. Integrated artwork discovery queries the iTunes Search API to find and embed high-resolution cover art automatically.

• Tag from Path — Automatically populate Artist, Album, Track, and Title fields from your folder structure using pattern matching (e.g., %artist%/%album%/%track% - %title%).

• Bulk File Renaming — Rename files based on their metadata using customizable patterns, with collision detection and character sanitization.
