What is Alter/Ego?
Alter/Ego is based on the award winning technology featured in chipspeech but instead of targeting Vintage voice technology, it focuses on more ‘modern’ (1990+) singing synthesis algorithms and research.
It is specially tailored for musical needs – simply type in your lyrics, and then play on your MIDI keyboard.
It’s a true synthesizer, the sound can be extensively modified for easy and expressive performances.

Alter/Ego is great. its sad that you need a midi keyboard though. you can add english or japanese lyrics or use the sounds (like for duh something like D uH)

Alter/Ego is a free version of Chipspeech focused on modern vocals, rather than vintage vocals. Since Alter/Ego and Chipspeech are both made by Plogue, they have similar UI and features. The two engines even share the character "Daisy," who has been sadly discontinued. The main difference between Chipspeech and Alter/Ego is the removal of the "circuit bending" feature found in Chipspeech.
