What is Aldine?

Aldine is an open-source (AGPL-3.0), self-hosted collaborative LaTeX editor and an alternative to Overleaf. Co-authors edit in the browser in real time, and every project is a real git repository with branches in the interface and push and pull to GitHub, GitLab, Gitea and Forgejo. It includes Zotero sync, a visual editing mode that never changes the source bytes, and a sandboxed TeX Live compiler with no network access. Sign-in works with passwords, Google, GitHub, ORCID or any OIDC provider. Self-hosting is two Docker containers started with docker compose, with flat files by default and Postgres optional. It is version 0.x, single-node by design, and has comments and explicit suggestions in place of keystroke-level track changes. There is no paid plan; a public demo is wiped nightly.
