uAdBlock is a system-wide adblocker that works with hostlists. Several sources are available to download and integrate these hostlists.
The problem with other ad-blockers for Safari is that they are implemented as awful hacks: as an InputManager and/or ApplicationEnhancer. This compromises the stability of Safari and very often create problems when Apple releases a new version of Safari.

This was posted over reddit a few months ago, Apparently Ad Blockers are not allowed on Youtube. Is this a new thing they've implemented? and judging by all the recent comments and posts all over r/youtube, this change was just rolled out on a larger scale.
