It's managed to retain its childlike sense of wonder. As someone who has been visiting it since 1996, I feel I can honestly state that. It's a nostalgic relic of the past, but it's also a museum of sorts. You won't find prostitution or capitalism here. It's all about simplicity, fun events, and a close-knit circle of people to come and chat with after a hard day.
Active Worlds is GREAT! I still come on sometimes but i still feel that AW is my Home Sweet Home :)
Great place, its the first ever 3d chat I joined in 1995 and I still go on it, of course I am making my own now but I will allways consider Active Worlds my home!
Active Worlds is Great!!! I recommend anyone new to Virtual Reality to try this out. Best of all there's a free version you can use for as long as you want! You can build just like the Sims game right in first person, no cheesy "birds eye" viewing and there's tons of built in games as well as many user created MMORPG's!! - There's even BINGO lol!!!! Come try it out and look for me when you do, my avatar's name is "Lucky Sevens" :D
