About hex-editing... Simply the best of its kind, much better than UltraEdit or freeware like HxD, and one of the VERY FEW able also to Undo/Redo after saving a file! Very useful for quick "edit & try" attempts! Includes very advanced features like binary analysis. Nice looking light interface. Unfortunately there is no free/lite option, only a bit expensive 1y updates/support subscription (you can still use the program but won't update). I wish there was a perpetual updates offer for that...

This dog quickly choked on a 460MB file. It opened the file in a decent amount of time, but any type of navigation resulted in the spinning beachball of death. (MacOS 10.13.2 on 2016 MBP 16 GB RAM with SSD)
Not that it matters too much, but its interface is ugly AF, probably due to it being converted from a Windows program.
So far, I find that Hex Fiend is the best for working with large files.
Well I opened a 600MB file on Windows 10 and it was a breeze... Maybe a Mac-only issue.
