Navidrome 0.64 brings Jellyfin Music API, faster artwork delivery, and performance gains

Self-hosted music streaming platform Navidrome has released version 0.64, introducing significant interoperability improvements aimed at broadening client compatibility. The update brings an experimental Jellyfin Music API implementation, allowing popular Jellyfin-compatible music clients such as Finamp and Jellify to now connect directly to Navidrome servers. This development effectively bridges two previously separate ecosystems, giving users more flexibility in choosing their preferred playback applications while maintaining their self-hosted music infrastructure.

Beyond connectivity enhancements, the release focuses heavily on performance optimization. Artwork delivery has been overhauled with a new background pipeline featuring blurred low-quality placeholders and a dedicated diagnostic command-line interface. Under the hood, all identifiers have migrated to a uniform canonical 128-bit format, while genre and artist filtering now leverages index-backed queries for improved speed. Playlist imports on large music libraries receive dramatic acceleration, complemented by additions including natural sort order, playlist favorites, manual refresh metadata actions, and fresh Catppuccin color themes. The update also addresses numerous bugs affecting media scanning, audio transcoding, and scrobbling functionality.
