Navidrome 0.62 adds audio similarity, redesigned now playing UI, and new security measures

Navidrome 0.62 is now available, advancing this open source web-based music server with new features and security improvements. This release introduces support for the OpenSubsonic sonicSimilarity extension, which enables audio-based track recommendations and smarter playlists when used with compatible plugins such as AudioMuse-AI. New endpoints, getSonicSimilarTracks and findSonicPath, leverage these capabilities for a more dynamic user experience.

Alongside this, playback reporting and the now playing user interface receive a major redesign. Navidrome now uses the OpenSubsonic playbackReport extension, replacing the old scrobble system and providing a new panel with configurable reporting intervals.

Addressing security concerns, this version strengthens server protection with enhanced ownership and authorization checks for shares, players, and transcoding. It sets a cap on concurrent transcodes, reducing risk of denial of service through FFmpeg, and introduces a configuration option to prevent running the server as the root user. Multiple reported vulnerabilities have been addressed and resolved.

Building on usability, smart playlists now support ReplayGain fields and add isMissing and isPresent operators for filtering. Users can also choose from new interface themes, including Tokyo, Catppuccin, and Moonbase.
