Epic launches cross-platform Parties with voice chat transfer

Epic Games has finally added cross platform party and voice chat through a new system called Epic Parties, connecting Fortnite, the Epic Games Launcher, and Epic mobile apps. The system works with Fortnite on all supported platforms, allowing console players to chat with friends on PC, Mac, iOS, or Android. On mobile, conversations can continue while the Epic app runs in the background.

Users can transfer an active voice session from the PC Launcher or Epic mobile apps into Fortnite without interrupting the audio. PC users can also minimize the Launcher and keep chatting while playing other games from the Epic Games Store. Accepting a party invitation also links Fortnite sessions, so invited friends automatically enter the same Lobby when they launch the game. Parties can be created or joined from Fortnite, the Launcher, or mobile apps, while existing group text chats can be turned into voice parties.

Epic Parties includes mute, block, and report controls, including voice reports for potential Community Rules violations. Later in 2026, Epic plans to expand social avatars beyond Fortnite, while Rocket League is expected to receive these social features in 2027. Epic also plans to make them available to third party developers across platforms, stores, and game engines in 2027.
