xplorer² 6.3 launches with Everything search integration, templated item creation and more
xplorer² 6.3 is now available for Windows users, introducing several notable workflow enhancements and user-focused refinements. The update features integration with the Everything search tool, enabling users to perform quick file searches directly from xplorer². All search commands are translated into Everything syntax and the results appear within a standard xplorer² scrap container. This integration requires Everything beta version 1.5a and is available in the ultimate edition.
Following this major search upgrade, the release introduces templated item creation under the Actions New… menu. Users can create files or folders with variable information, such as the current date, embedded in the name using $-tokens. When generating text files, the interface allows choosing between UTF8 and Unicode encodings and adds a byte order mark for identification.
Building on the improvements to the user experience, more program configuration options have been moved into the main Tools Options menu, minimizing reliance on external editors. The release also enhances customization by adding an extra programmable column in the Customize menu. Text formatting for programmable columns and macro commands now preserves character case, supporting advanced naming and display workflows.
