New Windows 11 experimental build adds Cloud Rebuild recovery option & other enhancements
Microsoft has released Windows 11 Insider Experimental Preview Build 26300.8772, introducing several enhancements to system recovery and user experience. The most prominent addition is Cloud rebuild, a recovery option that allows users to restore their Windows 11 PC to a known-good state by performing a full operating system reinstall. Unlike the existing “Reset this PC” feature, Cloud rebuild downloads both the Windows image and device drivers from Windows Update. This process functions even when the OS will not boot and does not require USB media, custom images, or a healthy installed system.
Following the recovery improvements, Microsoft is enabling Windows settings backup and restore by default for eligible Microsoft Entra joined or hybrid joined devices starting with Windows 11, version 26H2. This change eliminates the need for administrators to enable backup manually, establishing a baseline of resilience. User settings and Microsoft Store app lists are automatically captured. When a device is reimaged or reset, the user environment is restored, improving consistency and minimizing lost productivity.
Alongside these usability changes, the Windows 11 Account Control flyout gains a refreshed, modern interface. A clear subscription badge has been added, making it easier for users to recognize their account plan and access relevant benefits or upgrade options.
