Music platform Bandcamp adds artist-follow filtering and Subsonic API support in open beta

Bandcamp has rolled out two notable updates to enhance how fans engage with music on its platform. The Discover results page now includes a filter that allows users to display only items from artists they follow. This makes it easier to stay informed about new releases and merchandise from favorite musicians, and users can further refine their results by tag, location, or format.

Building on these improvements, Bandcamp now connects to the Subsonic API, enabling collection streaming through supported Subsonic clients such as Amperfy, Feishin, and Submariner. Fans can activate this feature through the Bandcamp fan settings by generating credentials and adding Bandcamp as a Subsonic or OpenSubsonic server within their preferred client. Once connected, users can stream or download their music collection and manage playlists from the Subsonic-supported client. Edited or newly created playlists will automatically appear in the user's Bandcamp collection across both web and mobile applications.

As this Subsonic API integration is currently in open beta, users with extensive music libraries might notice slower performance during streaming or library synchronization.
