Instapaper revamps website, launches major iOS redesign, and AI text-to-speech on Android

Instapaper, the widely-used read-later service, has rolled out a comprehensive update, introducing a fully rebuilt website that delivers a new three-column reading experience for users on larger screens. Web users also benefit from upgraded multiselect, performance enhancements, and the addition of keyboard shortcut support. If preferred, access to the previous website version remains available.

Building on these web improvements, iOS users receive their largest app update in more than a decade with Instapaper 10. The redesign features the new Liquid Glass look and includes counts for articles and notes, improved sorting, and a condensed article list view. For greater reading customization, users can choose from four new fonts (two serif and two sans-serif options). In addition, a new home screen widget allows one-tap access to in-progress and recently saved articles.

Following these major changes, the iOS app also introduces improved multitasking for iPad, an updated onboarding process, more reliable background syncing, and reduced article download times. Meanwhile, Android users can access advanced AI voices for text-to-speech, thanks to a complete rewrite of the Android text-to-speech engine to support this functionality.
