FSearch 0.3 adds filesystem monitoring, per-folder indexing, improved scan logic, and more

FSearch 0.3 marks the first stable release in three years for this fast and lightweight file search utility for Unix-like systems, inspired by Everything. The new version introduces folder change monitoring, ensuring search results update nearly instantly when files or directories are modified, which reduces reliance on manual or scheduled rescans.

Alongside this core functionality, users can now set rescan intervals and related settings separately for each indexed folder, allowing for finer customization depending on individual directory needs. Building on this flexibility, files and folders can be excluded from indexing with fixed patterns, wildcards, or full regular expressions, giving users greater control over what appears in their search results.

For managing scan routines, scheduling is now based on elapsed time rather than application uptime. When FSearch is closed during a scheduled rescan, that scan will occur as soon as the application is reopened, preventing routine checks from being missed. Following this, the database can now detect when an indexed folder, such as from a removable drive, goes offline, and will automatically rescan when the folder returns.

To help users transition, a one-time welcome dialog after updating lists all new features and improvements.
