AliasVault 0.30 adds passphrase generation, enhanced browser extension & performance boost
AliasVault 0.30 is now available, delivering a comprehensive upgrade to this end-to-end encrypted password and email alias manager. A key addition is support for passphrase generation based on word dictionaries, supplementing the previous random-character password option. This new feature is available across all AliasVault apps and supports English, Dutch, German, French, Spanish, and Italian. It has been among the most requested features in the project's GitHub community.
Alongside these changes, the browser extension has been refined for daily use. Users experience better highlighting of credentials matching the current website, a more intuitive autofill process for entering new credentials and creating email aliases, and improved detection and filling of two-factor authentication fields. Passkey compatibility now extends across more websites, and the Ctrl+Shift+L keyboard shortcut enables faster access to the autofill popup. The extension's password generator settings are now configurable from within the extension, bringing it to feature parity with web and mobile apps.
With this release, AliasVault improves efficiency by reducing memory use during vault imports, exports, and synchronization. Performance boosts include faster web app navigation, more responsive handling of large vaults, and enhanced reliability for browser extension autofill. Self-hosted users benefit from a rebuilt documentation website, updated API endpoints pointing to aliasvault.com, and server-side enhancements.
