Bunny DNS is now free with unlimited queries, 500 free domains, and IPv6 & DNSSEC support

Bunny DNS, a component of the bunny.net platform, is now free for DNS queries and includes complimentary DNS hosting for up to 500 domains per account. There are no query limits, no per-request billing, and no core features, such as smart records and health monitoring, locked behind premium or enterprise plans.

Building on this change, bunny.net outlines DNS as integral to its platform strategy, emphasizing ongoing investment and development in its DNS product. For users migrating from other providers, automatic zone scanning now reconstructs common domain records, streamlining the transfer process and minimizing the need for manual input. Once DNS records are active, users have the option to enable the CDN directly through their DNS settings, allowing seamless integration with bunny.net’s broader distribution services.

Following these enhancements, Bunny DNS nameserver records now resolve over both IPv4 and IPv6 by default, eliminating the need for separate configuration steps. Improvements to security include the deployment of DNSSEC with NSEC Black Lies, which helps protect against zone enumeration. Additional support for advanced DNS record types, such as HTTPS, SVCB, and TLSA, expands protocol compatibility. In addition, automating DNSSEC key management is achieved through CDS and CDNSKEY records, which reduce the burden of manual key rotations.
