Vimeo confirms security breach: some user data were exposed via third-party vendor Anodot

Vimeo has disclosed that unauthorized access to certain user and customer data followed a security breach at Anodot, a third-party analytics vendor used by the platform. The incident exposed some technical information, video titles, metadata, and, in select cases, customer email addresses. However, Vimeo clarified that the breach did not involve user video content, valid login credentials, or payment card information.

Following the discovery of the breach, Vimeo promptly took action by disabling all Anodot credentials and removing the Anodot integration from its systems. The company also engaged independent cybersecurity experts to support its investigation and notified law enforcement authorities.

While the incident impacted technical and limited contact information, Vimeo stated that user login credentials remain secure and there has been no disruption to Vimeo's core systems or services.
