Venmo’s recent redesign improves payment privacy defaults and adds rewards-focused tabs

Venmo is rolling out a major app redesign with a stronger focus on privacy, shopping rewards, and money management. The app now sets payment post visibility for new users to “friends” by default instead of public, moving away from Venmo’s long standing public social feed. Users can also switch posts to “just me” for fully private payment activity.

The redesigned feed adds larger visuals, more varied images, reactions, and quick actions like “Pay Again” and “Say Thanks.” It will also show personalized cashback offers and product suggestions based on recent purchases, while a new “Give a Shoutout” button lets users endorse local businesses from the payment feed.

More changes are coming over the next few months, including a new “Send” tab for frequent contacts, bill splitting with up to 30 people, scheduled payments, and gifts. A Money tab will organize tools like Teen Accounts and crypto, while a Rewards tab will collect limited time offers, including up to 5% Stash cashback paid to Venmo Debit Cards. The rollout is starting now, with full availability expected by fall.
