ChatGPT has launched Trusted Contact, a safety feature allowing adult users to nominate someone who may be notified if automated systems and reviewers detect serious self-harm concerns.

The notification to the Trusted Contact is intentionally limited, with no chat transcripts shared, and emphasizes privacy.

Users retain full control to add, edit, or remove their Trusted Contact at any time.
