Prime Video Ultra launches in US, raises ad-free access price to $4.99 with new features
Amazon has launched Prime Video Ultra in the United States, about a month after first announcing the new tier. It replaces the previous ad free plan and now costs $4.99 per month for current Prime subscribers, up from $2.99, representing an increase of about 67%.
The higher price comes with added features, including 4K and Ultra HD streaming being limited to Ultra, while simultaneous streams increase from three to five. Offline downloads have also been raised from 25 to 100, giving users four times the previous limit.
Even with those additions, the main draw for many users will likely remain the removal of ads. For subscribers who only wanted ad free viewing, the change makes that option more expensive and tied to a broader premium tier.
