Opera launches Browser Connector for Direct ChatGPT & Claude Integration in Opera One & GX
Opera is introducing Browser Connector in its Opera One and Opera GX web browsers, giving users the ability to integrate popular artificial intelligence services such as ChatGPT and Claude directly into their browsing experience. This Early Bird release aims to bridge the gap between standalone AI tools and everyday web activity.
Through the use of Model Context Protocol (MCP), Browser Connector allows selected AI models to access the user's current browser session and context. When enabled, ChatGPT and Claude can open web pages, interpret on-screen content, analyze open tabs, and take page screenshots from within Opera, reducing the need for manual data transfer between applications.
Previously, users were required to copy content or manage context manually when using external AI tools. With Browser Connector, these AI assistants can now interact directly with live browser data, making the workflow more seamless. Installation of Browser Connector is entirely optional and free, and users can decide when and if they want to enable the feature.
